Delhi Sultanate | Lodhi Dynasty
Founder of Lodhi Dynasty:
The Lodhi dynasty was founded by Bahlul Shah Lodhi by replacing Alaudin Alam Shah, the last ruler of the Sayyid dynasty. Lodhis were Afgans by race.

Important Points From Lodhi Dynasty:
Bahlol Lodhi (1451-1489 bce)
- Bahlol Lodhi was the nephew and son-in-law of Malik Sultan Shah Lodi, the governor of Sirhind in Punjab, India.
- He deposed Shah Alam and laid the foundation of the Lodhi dynasty.
- He adopted the title 'Ghazi'.
- Bahlul spent most of his time in fighting against the Sharqi dynasty and ultimately annexed it.
- He introduced Bahlol copper coins.
Sikander Lodhi (1489-1517 bce)
- Sikander Lodhi was the greatest and noblest of the three Lodhi rulers.
- His real name was Nizam Khan.
- He was a poet of repute, composing under the pen-name of Gulruk.
- Sikander Lodhi founded Agra in 1504.
- He shifted the capital from Delhi to Agra.
- He introduced new yard for land measurement 'Gazz-i-Sikandri'
- He repaired Qutub Minar in 1506.
- He was a good administrator. Price of commodities were very cheap during his reign.
Ibrahim Lodhi (1517-1526)
- Ibrahim Lodhi was the eldest son of Sikander Lodhi.
- He was arrogant but repressive ruler.
- Babar marched against Delhi and defeated and killed Ibrahim Lodhi in the first Battle of Panipath in 1526.
- Ibrahim Lodhi was the last ruler of Lodhi dynasty.
- The Afgan kingdom thus lasted for only seventy five years.
- The Sultanate Period ended in 1526.
